Reggio-Inspired Projects: Planning and Facilitating Engaging, Child-Directed Learning

In this workshop, we will focus on the Reggio principle of “progettazione”, a design thinking strategy for planning where teachers hypothesize about children’s interests, make predictions, document, and engage in an extended process of learning together with children. After overviewing the idea of a cycle of inquiry as a framework for curriculum design, early childhood educator Ron Grady will share examples of an inquiry process in his classroom.

This seminar is presented by Ron Grady. Ron is a preschool educator and researcher who is passionate about the value of play, the importance and beauty of nature, and is a strong proponent of the belief that children are active co-constructors of their own (and communal) knowledge. Ron is drawn to pedagogies that emphasize relationship, reflection and that embrace each and every one of the hundred languages of childhood. He holds a Bachelors in psychology, a Masters in in early childhood education, and is pursuing his Doctorate in education.
