Designing Intelligently Responsive Environments: Children, Spaces and Relat

August 30, 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Designing Intelligently Responsive Environments: Children, Spaces and Relationships

In this workshop, we will uncover the processes around designing intelligently responsive environments, where children’s voices are honored through co-constructive participation. We will take time to look at the soft qualities of our classrooms, such as light, color, materials, sounds, organization, placement, and microclimates, in an attempt to identify desirable characteristics of a space that is staged to support the young child in relationship with self and others. Please note that this workshop is a repeat of the same workshop from last August.

This seminar is presented by Hilary Odoy, Early Education Consultant. Hilary has over 25 years of experience working to support programs (brand new or re-imagining) with structuring their foundations with Reggio-Inspired practices in mind from the varied positions as an Administrator, Atelierista, and Master Teacher. Hilary holds the belief that strategic change occurs most effectively in a system of communication that values relationships and relies on trust, communication, and collaboration and values the role of the family in their child’s early learning experience. Hilary holds a BA In Family and Child Development from Virginia Tech and an MA in Innovative Early Childhood Education from the University of Colorado, in collaboration with the Boulder Journey School. She consults on a variety of lenses including environments, intelligent materials, and strength of classroom pedagogy and practices. Hilary is a BARIN board member.
