Designing Intelligently Responsive Environments

August 30, 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Children, Spaces & Relationships

In this workshop, we will uncover the processes around designing intelligently responsive environments, where children’s voices are honored through co-constructive participation. We will take time to look at the soft qualities of our classrooms, such as light, color, materials, sounds, organization, placement, and micro climates, in an attempt to identify desirable characteristics of a space that is staged to support the young child in relationship with self and others.

This seminar is presented by Hilary Odoy, Early Education Consultant. Hilary has over 25 years of experience working to support programs (brand new or re-imagining) with structuring their foundations with Reggio-inspired practices in mind from the varied positions as an Administrator, Atelierista, and Master Teacher. Hilary has a BA In Family and Child Development from Virginia Tech and recently completed her master’s degree in Innovation in Early Childhood from the University of Colorado at Boulder Journey School. She has visited the schools in Reggio Emilia and teaches workshops and consults on a variety of lenses including environments, intelligent materials, and strength of classroom pedagogy and practices. Hilary is a BARIN board member.
