EARLY CHILDHOOD INNOVATIONS SERIES

Leading with an Equity Lens: Exploring “She, He, They?” in a Case Study from the Classroom

Presented by: Iris Chin Ponte Ph.D., Claire Kamenski M.A. and Noah Grigni, Lesley Alumni, Author, and Artist
This session explores what it means to lead with an equity lens- whether you are a program leader, director, coach or teacher. Using the NAEYC advancing equity position statement as a framework, this session will focus on specific strategies and tools equity leaders can implement on the administrative level, working with staff and working with families. We will share a preschool curriculum about “identity” and what children, teachers, families and leaders learned from it. We will focus on tools and strategies program directors and teachers can use to lead with an equity lens including creating the culture and climate for change, evaluating procedures, and policies to support equity. This session will include a group activity and time for participants to apply ideas to their own setting.

Note: All Innovations sessions will be recorded and used for educational purposes.
