PART-TIME CLASSROOM ASSISTANT, Newtowne School
Summary Description: Newtowne School, a Reggio-inspired, parent cooperative preschool for children ages 22 months to 5 years, seeks a Classroom Assistant to support child-centered, developmentally-appropriate programming for Newtowne’s core program (8:30-12:30) three days per week. This part-time position supports the two full-time Classroom Teachers with the day-to-day activities and management of the classroom.

Primary Duties & Job Responsibilities: The Classroom Assistant will support the two Classroom Teachers with all daily activities and help to create and maintain a nurturing, play-based learning environment. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone interested in gaining experience and receiving mentorship in the Reggio Emilia approach to early education. This is a temporary, hourly position. This offer of employment is contingent upon the School’s learning being on site for 2020-2021 Academic Year. Classroom Assistants will not support Classroom Teachers if instruction occurs online.
Skills & Experience
- EEC Preschool or Infant/Toddler certification preferred
- At least 1 year experience working in early childhood classrooms
- Availability to work Wednesdays and two other days per week (however, days and hours are negotiable)
- Must clear full background check
- Must take EEC Health and Safety online course (free, approximately 1 hour) before working in classrooms
- Infant/Child CPR and First Aid certification preferred
