The Language of Computation – June 15-19, 2026 – Reggio Emilia
Whether you’ve been to Reggio before or long dreamt of the opportunity, The Language of Computation – Constructing Modern Knowledge in Reggio Emilia is a professional learning adventure unlike any other. In collaboration with our colleagues from Reggio Children and Fondazione Reggio Children, our institute situates the remarkable power of computation, robotics, learning-by-making, and even artificial intelligence within the profound context of the Reggio Emilia approach. Explore how computation can add to and amplify The Hundred Languages of Children.
The Reggio Emilia Approach is renowned for its profound, humane, creative, subtle, beautiful, and complex attention to knowledge construction in our youngest children. This 5-day institute builds upon that foundation and embraces new technologies and materials to expand that tradition. Whether you teach preschoolers or high school students, The Language of Computation is for you.
During the Language of Computation, you will work alongside Reggio’s atelieristas and veteran pedagogistas at the Lori Malaguzzi Centre, Caffarri, Scintillae, and ReMida — deepening your understanding of the Reggio Emilia approach while programming computers, designing with mathematics, messing about with linguistics, experimenting with AI, and building interactive robots. Beyond the workshops, you’ll prepare the conference dinner in the Atelier of Tastes, explore the Malaguzzi Centre’s exhibitions, savor world-class cuisine in the epicenter of the slow food movement, and collaborate with educators from across the globe.
Register today to join us in Reggio Emilia June 15-19 for five days of experiences sure to inspire your teaching practice and add computational projects to your repertoire.
